TBScience submissions

TBScience provides a specialised scientific platform within the conference dedicated to advances in tuberculosis basic science, translational research and investigational studies that support the future development of diagnostics, treatments and vaccines.

TBScience abstract submissions are reviewed through a dedicated scientific review process and, if accepted, are presented as part of the TBScience programme.

For the first time, TBScience is introducing dedicated Late-Breaker submissions, creating a new opportunity to showcase significant findings and emerging evidence that were not available during the main abstract submission period.

This pathway is designed for researchers working across a broad range of scientific disciplines, providing a platform to share the latest advances, accelerate collaboration, and contribute to the scientific conversations shaping the future of tuberculosis research.

Who is this for?
Researchers working in:
  • Basic science
  • Microbiology
  • Immunology
  • Cell biology
  • Animal model studies
  • Clinical research and product development
  • Modelling for epidemiology and transmission

Key Information
  • New for 2026
  • Significant new findings only
  • Submission deadline: 22 July 2026

TBScience 2026 Themes

Tuesday, 17th November 2026

Theme: Tuberculosis transmission: from identification to interruption

Interrupting tuberculosis transmission is central to ending the epidemic. This session will examine the dynamics of transmission and highlight advances in measuring and reconstructing transmission. Evidence-based strategies to interrupt transmission in high-burden settings will be explored.

Wednesday, 18th November 2026

Theme: Impact of heterogeneity among Mtb clinical isolates and lineages

Individual sputum isolates of Mtb, like global lineages of the pathogen, contain subpopulations with distinct traits and fitness. This session will explore the drivers and consequences of this heterogeneity. Potential impact on transmission, treatment outcomes, and vaccine efficacy will be addressed.

Thursday, 19th November 2026

Theme: Next-generation TB diagnostics and biomarker

This session will examine emerging diagnostics and biomarker approaches that enable earlier detection of tuberculosis and allow improved treatment monitoring and personalized care. Advances from discovery to implementation will be explored, with emphasis on impact in clinical and programmatic settings.

Friday, 20th November 2026

Expanding horizons: a One Health approach for mycobacterial diseases

This session will explore mycobacterial disease through a One Health lens, integrating human, animal, ecological, and environmental perspectives to better understand transmission, protection, persistence, and disease emergence across species and settings. Cross-disciplinary insights will be explored toward optimal intervention.
